The 9 Most Commonly Asked Questions about Ken’s Custom Clothing
We receive a lot of questions about our custom clothing—from How long does it take to get the clothing? to How long do fitting consultations last?—and we’d like to share the wealth of knowledge with you.

Q: What is the difference between your shop and a Tom James, J. Hilburn, or others who offer this Service?
A: Number one is the quality of our service and execution of design. I have been certified in custom clothing, and take continuing education classes in fit, alterations, fabric, business, design principles, and technology to stay current. My staff and I also train with our vendors to maintain the art. The fabrics and companies we offer are vast because each appointment has a certain need for their unique lives.

Q: How long does it take to get the clothing
A: 4 to 7 weeks depending on manufacturer and complexity. Bespoke is always the longest to execute. We do offer a 7 working day turn around or the expedited 14 day custom without shipping days.

Q: Who are your main brands?
A: Samuelsohn, Coppley, and Ken’s private label

Q: I had a previous experience in custom and I am now leary…
A: We hear this all the time. Ken’s haberdashers request that we start with just one item to prove ourselves, the fit and quality. Once there, the sky is the limit in terms of suits, sport coats, dress shirts, etc…

Q: What sizes can you fit?
A: The smallest we have done is a 34 extra short, and the largest was a 60 extra long. Portly, Short, Super Slim, Fashion forward, a Long coat with a Regular rise…Ken’s can fit you.

Q: How long will the fitting and first consultations last?
A: The first consultation last about one hour. This includes a get to know you discussion, fitting of garments, measuring, a couple of pictures, fabric selection, and designing.

Q: How many times do I have to come back?
A: The initial clothing comes in with an unfinished bottom “hem.” We may need to tweak the seat of the pants, and the sleeve by a quarter of an inch. After the initial we have your “unique numbers” in our system. From then on it is about picking up fabric and designing. As long as you do not gain or lose weight within 10 pounds.

Q: How much does it cost?
A: The cost of a suit is dependent upon fabric, location of manufacturer, hand work involved, and details to design. Ken’s can begin a custom suit at $1050 and exceed $6K. Quite honestly the medium range for made to measure is $1295 to $2395, bespoke starts around $4200.

Q: Why should we go with Ken’s and not online, or national
A: Ken’s is all about the relationship, the quality of the work, and the service from beginning to…there is no end. Ken’s will be behind the scenes at your wedding making sure every last detail is taken care of for the men. We will come over to the office if you cannot get away. Ken’s will be there with a text, or email at off hours so you can find support at odd times. We will grow with your successes and your life.

Please welcome our newest Haberdasher to Ken’s: Adam Daskivich!
Adam Daskivich joined our team at the end of July. He brings with him an eye for design and fashion. Adam previously owned his own custom clothing company for 8 years before joining Ken’s. He loves the accessories for each ensemble whether it the shoes, the pocket square, lapel pin, or tie bar. He enjoys the history of men’s fashion design and creates pieces to bring vintage looks into a modern world. Adam’s other interests are: basketball, working out, and great conversation while enjoying some whiskey and cigars.

Are you experienced?

Ken’s haberdashers have hosted multiple events over the years, but the ones our clients keep asking about are the Happenings: the multi-tiered brand shows with live music, a libation tasting, and an overall unique experience. Well, you’ve asked, and we listened! This fall season, at least once a month, we will be hosting Thursday evening experiences that will make you want to come back for more, and bring friends along! Make sure you are following us through one of these mediums to get the Private Invitation.

Speaking of Social Media…
Ken’s enjoys a long history of being on the front lines in fashion, but we have also been involved in social media, web site production, and emails for over 20 years. We treat each medium as a unique tool to get our message across about who we are. If you enjoy unique visuals and want to see what is new and exciting in the shop then follow our Instagram. If you only want updates about events and other news worthy items then follow us on Twitter, and for a mix of both plus a little more brand awareness, check out our Facebook.

Personally, I enjoy Instagram the most for the quick visual updates and short video feeds from the brands and people I follow. The oddities in life, travel, fashion, and home are captured on our Snapchat for 24 hours. However, as a late night relaxation, I enjoy Pinterest (if I’m not reading a novel). Whether in the creation of a new board idea, or exploring our world through innovation, creation, culture, and life. Ken’s strives to provide you with relevant information that is both interesting and engaging via our multiple social media channels and it’s up to you to pick and choose which ones work best for you!
